Hello my friends! I am taking a slight detour this month from our sewing lessons to teach some embroidery. I have really fallen in love with embroidery lately. It is such a relaxing and fulfilling activity. And it's a super portable hobby! You don't have to be tied down to a sewing machine. You can take embroidery anywhere with you. It's a great road trip hobby!
In my love for embroidery, I took a leap this summer and designed my first embroidery pattern! It released through Sunflower Seams Pattern company. It's a collection of whimsical and sweet hot air balloons and flowers. If you'd like to try your hand at embroidery, you can get it for 20% off now until the end of October with code Embroidery.
It also just so happens that one of the patterns in the collection is a perfect beginner pattern. It has an assortment of simple stitches that you can learn. It is also pretty simple, so it's the perfect pattern to start with.
I also wrote an embroidery 101 post over on the Sunflower Seams blog complete with videos for every stitch to help you learn how to embroider. Check it out here!
Then as you gain some confidence, you can tackle the other patterns in the collection, such as the Fly Away Butterfly Balloon.
Embroidery is such a great way to add a little love to any garment (handmade or purchased). And let me tell you, that extra love is felt. My daughters love it when I make something with a personal touch just for them.
Happy Stitching!
